Shibburn has issued a security warning to the SHIB community, urging caution when interacting with unexpected wallet requests that ask users to approve permissions or sign transactions. In an X post, the account wrote: “Unexpected wallet requests deserve caution. Read every permission before signing.” It also warned users never to share a seed phrase or private key and noted that legitimate support teams will not ask for either.
SHIB wallet security warning from Shibburn
Shibburn’s reminders come as wallet security has become a heightened concern following a string of 2026 incidents, including major DeFi exploits, exchange breaches and a Coldcard exploit that swept Bitcoin out of wallets secured by Coldcard hardware devices. The Coldcard incident, the account said, reinforces that “self-custody relocates risk rather than eliminating it.” The warning stresses that a seemingly routine transaction can grant a decentralized application permissions that users may not fully understand, so every permission request should be read carefully before signing.
SHIB burn figures and market snapshot
According to the Shibburn website, 2,604,774 SHIB were burned in the last 24 hours, while the daily burn rate fell 8.74% from the prior day, when 3.93 million SHIB were burned. The last 24 hours added to a cumulative 48.52 million SHIB burned over the past seven days. Over the last 30 days, 3.35 billion SHIB were burned, with the burn rate dropping 76.71% in that timeframe. Shibburn reports a total of 410,843,714,716,903 SHIB burned across 21,530 transactions.
At the time of writing, SHIB was up 0.21% over the past 24 hours and down 7.63% on the week, as investors weighed a key inflation reading on Wednesday that showed prices moderating across a range of goods and services, possibly reducing urgency for an imminent interest rate cut.
