On June 17, 2026, China unveiled a series of initiatives to advance its Global Governance Initiative, focusing on practical cooperation in areas such as artificial intelligence (AI) and sustainable development. At a press conference in Beijing, Foreign Minister Wang Yi introduced a white paper titled “More Just and Equitable Global Governance: China’s Principles, Proposals and Actions,” outlining plans for enhanced coordination mechanisms and new dialogue platforms. A key priority is the governance of emerging technologies, particularly AI, with China working to establish the World AI Cooperation Organization. The upcoming World AI Conference in Shanghai will further these efforts. Additionally, China aims to strengthen international governance platforms, such as the International Organization for Mediation, and revitalize regional cooperation in the Asia-Pacific. The inaugural Xiong’an Global Governance Forum will also be held to foster dialogue on reforming global governance. Wang emphasized that the success of the Global Governance Initiative relies on collective international efforts to create a better future for humanity.
