The two-day International Conference on Applied Artificial Intelligence (2AI-2026) concluded at the Central University of Kashmir’s Tulmulla Campus. Organized by the Department of Information Technology in collaboration with the University of South Dakota AI Research Lab and supported by Springer CCIS, the event brought together Vice Chancellors, senior academicians, deans, and faculty members from various institutions.
Prof. Nazir Ahmad Ganaie, Vice Chancellor of SKUAST-K, praised the initiative, emphasizing AI’s role in the knowledge revolution and its applications in agriculture, healthcare, education, security, and governance. He stressed the importance of ethical AI use and highlighted SKUAST-K’s efforts in AI-enabled agriculture and interdisciplinary education.
CUK Vice Chancellor Prof. A. Ravinder Nath noted that the conference coincided with the launch of the university’s M.Tech programme in AI and Machine Learning, offering a platform for academic exchange and technology exposure. He stressed the need for AI to be guided by human judgment and ethical responsibility to enhance efficiency across sectors.
Prof. R. S. Hegadi, Conference General Chair, revealed that out of 447 research papers submitted, 118 were selected for publication in Springer’s CCIS series after a rigorous review. He urged young researchers to focus on AI-driven innovation to address real-world challenges.
Prof. Farooq Ahmad Mir, Dean of the School of Engineering and Technology, highlighted AI’s transformative impact across disciplines, aligning with the National Education Policy.
The session concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Yash Paul, with proceedings conducted by Ms Insha.
