Apple continues to enhance the iPhone’s capabilities as a digital wallet with iOS 27, introducing several new features to the Wallet app. Passes such as memberships, gift cards, and loyalty cards now boast a “Poster Generic” style, allowing for full background images and interactive actions like venue directions or checking rewards. Users can verify pass authenticity with issuer certificates, and new barcode types, including EAN–13 and Code 39, are supported. Developers benefit from a new Pass Designer Mac app for easy pass creation. The “Create a Pass” feature allows users to digitize tickets and memberships using Visual Intelligence, offering customizable templates and backgrounds. Hotel keys now provide trip details, while AI-powered bill splitting simplifies group payments using Apple Cash. The “Insights” feature lets users track spending by linking financial accounts, and order tracking expands to Australia and Canada. The Tap to Share feature facilitates quick digital checkouts. Visual Intelligence requires an iPhone 15 Pro or newer, but most features are compatible with all iPhones.
