What are the details of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Fold 8 Ultra leaks?

Samsung appears to have finalized the names for its upcoming flagship foldable smartphones, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra. The Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra will succeed the Galaxy Z Fold 7 from 2025, while the broader model, initially rumored as the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide, will be known simply as Galaxy Z Fold 8. This model is expected to have a wider and shorter design, akin to the anticipated foldable iPhone, but will sacrifice one rear camera, similar to the ultra-thin Galaxy S25 Edge.

The “Ultra” label for the higher-tier Fold 8 model prompts questions, given the high standards set by Samsung’s Galaxy S Ultra phones, which include features like S Pen support and advanced zoom capabilities. The Fold 8 Ultra will reportedly introduce enhancements such as a 5,000mAh battery, 45W charging, and a 50-megapixel ultra-wide camera. However, it will not feature a privacy display, S Pen support, 60W charging, or an improved zoom camera, potentially undermining the “Ultra” label’s significance.

Interestingly, Apple’s first foldable phone is rumored to be named iPhone Ultra, though it is unlikely this influenced Samsung’s naming choice, given its use of the “Ultra” name since 2020. Samsung is expected to reveal the Galaxy Z Fold 8 series alongside the Galaxy Z Flip 8 at the Unpacked event on July 22, with a possible price increase for its new foldable phones, similar to the Galaxy S26 series.
