Apple’s latest iOS 27 introduces a revamped Siri, now known as Siri AI, which promises to be a strong competitor to popular chatbots like Claude and ChatGPT. Siri AI, currently available in beta, is set to be accessible to all users this fall. This new version of Siri is designed to be more knowledgeable and capable, with enhanced understanding and reasoning abilities. It can access personal data from apps such as Mail, Messages, and Photos, allowing for more personalized assistance.
One of the standout features is Siri’s ability to understand personal context, enabling it to retrieve information from emails, texts, files, and photos. Users can ask Siri to find specific content or recall details from past interactions, making it a powerful tool for managing personal data.
Siri AI also boasts broad world knowledge, capable of searching the web for current information, analyzing documents, and providing assistance with tasks ranging from recipe suggestions to homework help. Its onscreen awareness feature allows Siri to interpret what’s on the user’s screen, offering insights and answers based on visible content.
App Actions enhance Siri’s functionality by enabling it to perform tasks within apps, such as sending emails, scheduling meetings, or organizing photos. The new Siri design integrates seamlessly with the iPhone’s interface, offering a dynamic search and ask option from the device’s Dynamic Island.
The systemwide context feature ensures Siri can operate within any app, providing relevant information and assistance based on selected text or images. The dedicated Siri app allows users to start new conversations or revisit previous ones, offering a card-style interface for easy navigation.
In iOS 27, users can write with Siri across various applications, benefiting from features like automatic proofreading and the ability to draft documents. Apple’s collaboration with Google has led to the development of advanced AI models, enhancing Siri’s capabilities and integration across devices.
Privacy remains a priority, with Siri’s features running on-device and utilizing Private Cloud Compute for secure data processing. Siri AI is available across multiple platforms, including iOS, iPadOS, macOS, visionOS, and watchOS, allowing for seamless cross-device interaction.
However, Siri AI’s availability is limited by region and device requirements. It supports English in select countries, with plans to expand language support in the future.
