Apple is preparing to release iOS 26.1, the first significant update since iOS 26 launched in September, introducing six notable new features and improvements. The update is expected to be available for all compatible iPhones by early November, following its release to developers and public beta testers.
One of the key features is the ability to make Liquid Glass more opaque, allowing users to adjust the translucency of the interface for a clearer or more contrasted appearance. This customization option can be found in the Display & Brightness settings.
Additionally, users can now disable the swipe-to-camera gesture on the Lock Screen, preventing accidental camera activations that could drain the battery or fill the photo library with unintended shots. This option is accessible in the Camera settings.
The Clock app has also been updated, requiring a swipe gesture to stop alarms from the Lock Screen, reducing the chances of accidental dismissals. Users can revert to the previous tap-to-stop method through the Accessibility settings if preferred.
Local Capture recordings have been enhanced, with a new menu in the General settings offering more control over save locations and an option to record audio only.
Apple Music sees a minor upgrade, allowing users to swipe to change songs when the player is minimized, enhancing the music listening experience.
Lastly, a new feature under Privacy & Security settings, called “Background Security Improvements,” automatically installs security updates in the background, ensuring continuous protection without user intervention. This evolution of the Rapid Security Responses feature aims to maintain device security seamlessly.
