Apple’s latest addition to its iPhone lineup is the iPhone Air, priced at $999 and boasting a sleek, lightweight design. It stands alongside the iPhone 17 series, replacing the “Plus” model while delivering high-end performance in a compact form. At a mere 5.6mm thickness, it is Apple’s slimmest iPhone yet, surpassing even Samsung’s Galaxy S25 Edge. Constructed with a polished titanium frame and a 6.5-inch display, it fits in size between the iPhone 17 and the iPhone 17 Pro Max. The titanium frame ensures durability, preventing bending, and features a glossy finish.
The rear of the iPhone Air showcases a unique camera “plateau,” which accommodates an 18-megapixel front camera, a TrueDepth system for Face ID, and a 48-megapixel rear camera. This design choice contributes to the phone’s thin profile, while 3D printed components, including the USB-C port, enhance strength and reduce material usage. The phone is available in four colors: Space Black, Cloud White, Light Gold, and Sky Blue.
The display matches that of the iPhone 17 models, offering up to 3000 nits of peak brightness outdoors, ProMotion 120Hz refresh rates, and Always-On display technology. Improved anti-reflection coating reduces glare, and the Ceramic Shield 2 provides enhanced scratch and crack resistance.
Equipped with an A19 Pro chip, similar to the iPhone 17 Pro, the iPhone Air features a 6-core CPU and a 5-core GPU, with advanced AI capabilities. The rear camera supports standard zoom and new Dual Capture functionality, while the front camera offers Center Stage for video calls.
Connectivity is enhanced with the new C1X modem and N1 networking chip, supporting Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6. The battery offers up to 27 hours of video playback, with an optional MagSafe battery pack extending usage to 40 hours. Charging is limited to 20W, with fast charging capabilities.
The iPhone Air supports features like Emergency SOS via satellite and eSIM-only configuration worldwide. Starting at $999 for 256GB, with options up to 1TB, it is available for pre-order, launching on September 19.
