Samsung is set to unveil the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide, its latest wide-screen foldable phone, in 2026. This model is anticipated to launch alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and will face off against Apple’s rumored first foldable phone, the iPhone Ultra. The Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide introduces significant changes from previous models, boasting a unique design and advanced features.
The phone’s design features a wide-screen form factor, making it shorter and wider than typical foldable phones. It is expected to have an Armor Aluminum frame and a foldable design with an IP48 rating for dust and water resistance. The cover display will likely be protected by Gorilla Glass Victus 2. When folded, the dimensions are 123.9 x 161.4 x 9.8mm, and when unfolded, they measure 123.9 x 82.2 x 4.3mm. The device offers a 5.4-inch bezel-less cover display and a 7.6-inch foldable display, both utilizing LTPO OLED panels with a variable refresh rate of 1Hz to 120Hz and a peak brightness of 2,600 nits. The 4:3 aspect ratio and stereo speakers enhance the video viewing experience.
Camera-wise, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide is expected to feature a dual-camera setup on the rear, with a 200MP primary camera and a 50MP ultrawide camera. Both cover and inner displays are likely to have 10MP front-facing cameras. The cameras will support 4K 60fps video recording, with the rear cameras possibly offering 8K 30fps recording and HDR10+ capabilities.
Under the hood, the device is anticipated to run on the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy processor, paired with 12GB or 16GB of RAM and storage options of 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB. The battery is expected to be rated at 4,560mAh, with a typical capacity between 4,700mAh and 4,800mAh, supporting up to 25W wired charging and 15W or higher wireless charging.
The software will likely launch with Android 17 and One UI 9, featuring Galaxy AI, Samsung DeX, and other Samsung services. Samsung is expected to provide up to seven years of software updates.
While the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide has not been officially announced, it is speculated to be priced around $1,800 in the US, reflecting its slightly reduced hardware compared to the Galaxy Z Fold 8.
