Apple has unveiled watchOS 27, the latest operating system for the Apple Watch, introduced at WWDC 2026. Currently available for developers in beta form, a public beta is expected in July, with a full launch in September. This update brings a revamped Siri AI, offering more advanced capabilities similar to ChatGPT or Claude, enabling seamless conversations and complex task management by accessing personal data across various apps. The new Siri can also interact with apps like Messages and Music for enhanced functionality, though it requires a paired iPhone supporting Apple Intelligence.
The Liquid Glass design has been refined for better readability, and a Dynamic app grid now highlights Siri Suggested apps. A new tap gesture allows users to interact with the Smart Stack more intuitively. Smart Stack Suggestions have expanded to include features like Parked Car and Theater Mode reminders. Battery life is optimized by disabling unused features.
Workout Buddy now functions independently of the iPhone, offering new metrics and supporting Spanish. Cycle Tracking includes features for perimenopause and menopause, while treadmill accuracy is improved with machine learning. The all-in-one Find My app consolidates device and people tracking, featuring Precision Finding for specific devices.
Custom Wallet passes and Call Context features enhance user experience, and music playback is quicker. Child Safety features have been updated, including a revamped setup for Apple Watch For Your Kids and an improved Screen Time interface.
watchOS 27 is compatible with Apple Watch Series 9 and later, Apple Watch Ultra 2 and later, and Apple Watch SE 3, requiring an iPhone running iOS 27. Developers can access the beta now, with the public release set for September.
