Samsung has introduced a new foldable smartphone, the Samsung W26, in China. This device is an enhanced version of the Galaxy Z Fold 7, featuring the same sleek design and dimensions but with notable upgrades. A standout feature of the W26 is its direct satellite connectivity for emergency calls and messages, utilizing China’s Tiantong satellite system, a capability not present in the globally sold Galaxy Z Fold 7.
The W26 is available in unique dual-tone colors, Dan Xihong (Red+Gold) and Xuan Yao Black (Black+Gold). It also boasts 16GB of RAM across its 512GB and 1TB storage options, compared to the 12GB RAM in the 512GB version of the Galaxy Z Fold 7. The package includes a dual-tone kevlar case, a 25W fast charger, a USB cable, and a China Telecom co-branded privilege card.
The smartphone’s displays feature a 1-120Hz variable refresh rate and can reach up to 2,600 nits of peak brightness for HDR content. It is equipped with stereo speakers enhanced by Dolby Atmos and runs on Android 16 with One UI 8.0, promising seven major Android OS updates. Additional features include Galaxy AI enhancements like Smart Collection, Smart Drag And Drop, and a Smart Password Manager.
Camera-wise, the W26 mirrors the Galaxy Z Fold 7 with a 10MP selfie camera, a 200MP primary camera with OIS, a 12MP ultrawide camera with autofocus, and a 10MP telephoto camera with OIS and 3x optical zoom. It also has a 4MP under-display front-facing camera and supports 4K 60fps video recording on all cameras except the 4MP one, with the primary camera capable of 8K 30fps video capture.
