What new AI innovations is Blackbaud introducing to enhance its data and trust strategy?

Blackbaud has unveiled a series of AI-driven product innovations aimed at solidifying its leadership in the social impact software sector. The company is focusing on integrating AI systems into customer workflows to build long-term competitive advantages. Central to these innovations is the “Trusted AI Engine” strategy, which combines broad platform capabilities with specific intelligence for nonprofits, educational institutions, and fundraising bodies. Blackbaud asserts that its extensive sector data and established trust provide a strong foundation as AI becomes more prevalent in enterprise software.

CEO Mike Gianoni emphasized the importance of creating AI systems that organizations can depend on for critical tasks while ensuring governance and oversight. Among the new offerings is the Development Agent, part of the “Agents for Good” initiative, which assists fundraising teams in engaging donors through personalized communications. Additionally, Blackbaud has expanded its platform’s conversational AI capabilities, allowing users to access insights and recommendations within their workflows, thus reducing operational friction.

Further AI initiatives include automating document workflows, offering adaptive fundraising insights, and introducing tools like the Blackbaud Billing Management Collections Assistant for schools. The company also introduced “Expedited Giving,” which accelerates corporate employee donations to nonprofits significantly faster than other solutions.

Blackbaud’s strategy aims to create lasting AI value through “data moats,” “context moats,” and a “trust moat,” ensuring organizations can increasingly depend on AI for execution within defined boundaries. These investments are designed to keep Blackbaud’s platforms integral to social impact organizations as they transition from AI-generated insights to autonomous operations.
