Are SwitchBot’s new smart locks with 3D facial recognition the future of home security?

SwitchBot has introduced the Lock Vision and Lock Vision Pro, two smart locks equipped with Matter compatibility and advanced 3D facial recognition technology for swift door unlocking. These locks integrate seamlessly with Apple HomeKit through Matter-over-WiFi and also support NFC, allowing users to unlock their doors using a variety of methods, including iPhone app controls, Siri voice commands, and physical keys. The Pro version extends accessibility with palm vein and fingerprint recognition, even functioning with wet or dirty hands. With a battery life of up to 12 months and emergency power options, these locks are designed to replace standard deadbolts and feature mmWave radar for detecting approaching individuals. Biometric data is securely stored on the device, ensuring user privacy. The Lock Vision is priced at $170, while the Lock Vision Pro is available for $230, with an introductory discount offered on Amazon and the SwitchBot website.
