What’s new from Google I/O 2026?

Google kicked off its Google I/O 2026 event on May 19, unveiling a range of new products and features for Android users worldwide. Among the highlights is the rollout of AI Agents across the Android ecosystem, allowing users to automate tasks through contextual conversation analysis. This feature, initially introduced by Samsung, is now available on Android devices, giving users control over AI functionalities.

The event also saw the introduction of the Googlebook, an evolution of the Chromebook, enhanced with AI capabilities. The Googlebook offers customizable widgets and seamless integration with Android phones, with collaborations from major laptop brands like ASUS and HP.

Cross-compatibility between Quick Share and AirDrop is expanding, enabling easier file sharing between Android and iOS devices. Google has also introduced a new Gemini feature called Ramble, which helps users distill key points from conversations.

For content creators, Google launched Screen Reactions for live video responses and improved the Instagram Edits app for better video quality. Video uploads on social media from Android devices are now optimized to match iPhone quality.

Security enhancements include anti-scam measures for banking interactions and a new temporary location sharing feature for added privacy. Additionally, Adobe Premiere is coming to Android, providing exclusive tools for video creation, and Google Maps for Android Auto has received a significant update.

Finally, Google is refreshing its emoji collection with new 3D designs, starting with Pixel phones and GBoard.
