WhatsApp Web: New Beta Security Alert for Unofficial Clients

A warning has been spotted in WhatsApp Beta for Android version 2.26.35.1 that may alert users when the app detects they are attempting to link their account through an unofficial or third-party web client. The message appears in the Linked Devices section, where users view and manage devices connected to their WhatsApp account.

The alert may prompt users to switch to the official WhatsApp Web Client to keep their accounts safe. Users can dismiss the warning, but it will continue to appear until they move their session to the official platform.

How the WhatsApp Web alert works

In the beta build, the warning is shown specifically within the Linked Devices interface when an unofficial website client is detected. Its persistent nature — dismissible but recurring — is intended to encourage users to connect only through the official WhatsApp Web Client.
