Apple is set to release an updated 14-inch MacBook Pro featuring an M6 chip by late 2026, followed by a redesigned M7 model in the first half of 2027. The company has reportedly completed work on the M6 MacBook Pro months ago, intending to launch it by year-end. This M6 chip cycle is expected to be shorter than previous cycles as there are no plans for M6 Pro and M6 Max versions. The transition to the M7 chip is anticipated to be swift due to its AI workload optimizations. The 2027 M7 MacBook Pro will showcase a new design, aligning with Apple’s future high-end OLED touchscreen MacBook Pro models, which are rumored to feature a sleeker design. Although the release date for the OLED MacBook Pro models remains uncertain, they are expected to debut by late 2026 or early 2027. Apple’s release schedules face challenges due to ongoing memory chip shortages and rising costs. Additionally, the first half of 2027 could see the introduction of several new products, including updated iPad Pro models, the iPhone Air 2 with dual cameras, the iPhone 18, and the iPhone 18e.
