Why did a journalist with 1,800 phones fly to Korea for a Samsung device?

A Japanese IT journalist, Yasuhiro Yamane, renowned for his extensive collection of over 1,800 phones, recently traveled to South Korea to acquire Samsung’s latest innovation, the Galaxy Z TriFold. With a career spanning more than 20 years in covering smartphones and telecommunications, Yamane is passionate about mobile devices, considering himself a “mobile phone researcher.”

The Galaxy Z TriFold, launched in South Korea on December 12 at approximately $2,500, is a unique tri-folding phone that intrigued Yamane enough to make the journey from Hong Kong. His fascination with Samsung began with the SGH-E400 flip phone in 2003, and the Galaxy Z TriFold represents a significant evolution in mobile technology that he was eager to experience firsthand.

Impressed by the device, Yamane praised its 10-inch unfolded display, which he found ideal for multitasking. He believes the Galaxy Z TriFold is particularly suited for creators and business professionals who need to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
