Why didn’t Samsung increase the Galaxy Z Fold 7’s battery size?

Samsung recently introduced its latest foldable phones, the Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Galaxy Z Fold 7, both featuring larger screens. Notably, the Galaxy Z Flip 7 comes with an upgraded 4,300mAh battery, nearly matching the Galaxy Z Fold 7’s 4,400mAh capacity. According to Samsung, the decision to enhance the Flip’s battery was driven by user demand, whereas the Fold prioritized improvements in camera quality, reduced weight, and a more expansive cover screen. The competitive landscape for book-style foldables emphasizes thinness and lightness, prompting Samsung to focus on these aspects for the Galaxy Z Fold 7. Despite the demand for larger batteries, significant capacity enhancements may not occur until Samsung adopts silicon carbon anode batteries, a move pending assurance of their safety and durability.
