Recent incidents in Jordan
A day before the alert, U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) confirmed that two U.S. service members were killed in Jordan while repelling an Iranian attack involving ballistic missiles and drones. A third service member is listed as missing. Four additional U.S. soldiers were evacuated to Jordanian hospitals and have since been released.
Possible travel impacts
The alert cautions that travel disruptions are possible, including flight cancellations and temporary airspace closures. The State Department also notes that U.S. diplomatic facilities — even those outside the Middle East — have received threats; Iran-affiliated groups could target U.S. interests.
