Apple’s forthcoming high-end MacBook model, equipped with an OLED touchscreen display, is set to incorporate the current M5 Pro and M5 Max chips. The launch is anticipated between late this year and early next year, with the device maintaining the existing high-end Apple silicon instead of transitioning to the next-generation M6 versions. The touchscreen MacBook will be offered in 14- and 16-inch sizes, featuring a new design and an iPhone-style Dynamic Island. The model is expected to be priced higher than the M5 Pro MacBook Pro, which recently saw a price increase starting at $1,999.
Apple’s strategy includes bypassing the “M6 Pro” and “M6 Max” chips in favor of the more potent “M7 Pro” and “M7 Max” chips, which are designed to handle intensive AI workloads with enhanced neural accelerators, graphics improvements, and increased memory bandwidth. An entry-level MacBook Pro with the M6 chip is still anticipated later this year.
Looking ahead, Apple is developing a successor to the high-end MacBook, set to feature M7 Pro and M7 Max chips, aiming for a release by the end of 2027. Additionally, the company plans to update the Mac Studio with M7 Max and M7 Ultra chip options in 2028.
