Will iOS 27’s Dedicated Siri App Feature Auto-Deleting Chats?

Apple is set to introduce a revamped Siri with a dedicated app in iOS 27, offering users the ability to retain conversations for a limited duration. This move underscores Apple’s commitment to privacy as it integrates AI into its software, distinguishing itself from competitors. Users will have the option to auto-delete chats after 30 days, one year, or keep them indefinitely, similar to features in the Messages app. Unlike other AI chatbots that depend on extensive memory systems to enhance interactions, Apple will impose stricter guidelines on information retention. Additionally, users can choose to start the Siri app with either a grid of past conversations or a fresh chat screen. Despite using Google’s Gemini models to power Siri, Apple will downplay this association due to Google’s data-driven advertising reputation. Interestingly, the new Siri app will be labeled as “beta,” following two years of delays and a $250 million settlement over postponed Siri features, with eligible iPhone users potentially receiving up to $95.
