Samsung continues to enhance Bixby, its AI assistant, even with the introduction of Gemini. Building on the improvements seen in One UI 8.5, Samsung is set to introduce a new activation method for Bixby with One UI 9.0. Currently, users can summon Bixby by pressing the power button or using a hotword. The upcoming update will include a Gesture Wake-up feature, allowing users to activate Bixby simply by picking up their phone and bringing it closer to their face, eliminating the need to say “Bixby” or “Hi, Bixby.” This method promises faster interaction with the assistant, though its impact on power consumption remains uncertain. However, any potential increase in power usage might be a worthwhile trade-off for the convenience of quicker access, provided the feature operates reliably.
