Samsung is considering a significant shift in its flagship Galaxy S lineup, with the potential adoption of OLED panels from China’s BOE for the base Galaxy S27 model. Traditionally, Samsung has relied on its own display panels for high-end devices, while opting for external suppliers for lower-tier models. However, rising component costs are pressuring the company to explore cost-effective alternatives. Samsung’s mobile chief, TM Roh, is set to visit China this month, where he may finalize an agreement with BOE for OLED panel supply. This move would mark the first time a flagship Galaxy device incorporates a Chinese OLED panel. Additionally, discussions might extend to BOE’s LCD panels for Samsung TVs, despite previous legal disputes between the two companies.
