Will the Galaxy Z Fold 7 feature the Snapdragon 8 Elite?

Samsung is gearing up to unveil its latest smartphone, the Galaxy Z Fold 7, featuring a book-style foldable display, at the upcoming Galaxy Unpacked event. Anticipation has been building with numerous leaks and rumors about the device’s specifications. Recent confirmation reveals that the Galaxy Z Fold 7 will indeed be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, suggesting an imminent launch.

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) in the United States has certified a Samsung smartphone, identified by the model number SM-F966B, believed to be the international variant of the Galaxy Z Fold 7. The certification confirms the use of the SM8750 SoC, corresponding to the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite.

Highlighted features of the Galaxy Z Fold 7 include 5G connectivity, Wi-Fi 7, Ultra-wide Band (UWB), wireless charging, and wireless power sharing, aligning with previous leaks and expectations. The FCC certification hints at a forthcoming release.

While the certification does not disclose all features, leaks suggest the device will boast an 8.2-inch foldable AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate internally, and a 6.5-inch AMOLED display with FHD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate externally. The camera setup is expected to include a 200MP wide sensor, a 12MP ultra-wide sensor, and a 10MP telephoto sensor with 3x zoom. For selfies, a 10MP camera on the outer display and a 4MP under-display camera are anticipated. The phone is expected to house a 4,400mAh battery and run on Android 16-based One UI 8.0.
