The UAE is poised to become the first government globally to extensively implement Agentic AI across its public sector, as announced by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. Over the next two years, the initiative aims to integrate autonomous AI systems into half of all government services and operations.
Sheikh Mohammed highlighted that this transformation aligns with the directives of UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and introduces a new national framework for government operations. The initiative will see AI systems not only automating tasks but also acting as active partners in government functions. These systems are expected to monitor changes, provide analyses, offer recommendations, manage operations, and execute actions independently, thus supporting decision-making, enhancing services, and boosting operational efficiency in real-time.
The rollout will adhere to a strict two-year timeline, with government entities and officials evaluated on their adoption of AI systems and adaptation to technological advancements. Extensive training programs will be provided to government employees to develop advanced AI skills, marking this as the largest transformative government project in the coming years.
Emphasizing the centrality of people in this vision, Sheikh Mohammed stated that while technology evolves rapidly, the focus remains on creating an environment that unlocks human potential, improves lives, and builds a more responsive and impactful government. The plan signifies a shift towards fully autonomous, AI-driven government systems, with AI integrated into policymaking, operations, and service delivery to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
The phased implementation will be supported by continuous performance tracking and impact assessments to ensure consistent results across the federal government. The initiative builds on two decades of digital transformation in the UAE, reinforcing the country’s position as a leader in government innovation and emerging technologies.
