Microsoft’s July 2026 Patch Tuesday for Windows 11, distributed as KB5101650, is one of the largest security releases on record: it brings 25H2 to build 26200.8875 and 24H2 to build 26100.8875 and includes fixes for 570 vulnerabilities, an unusually large jump from the 137 issues patched in July 2025.
## Scope of the July update and key fixes
The release covers a wide range of core Windows components. Security patches address the Windows Kernel, Win32k, NTFS, Remote Desktop, Secure Boot, BitLocker and File Explorer, among others. Several fixes mitigate vulnerabilities that could allow remote code execution — flaws that would let an attacker run code on a target system remotely if exploited. The update also bundles non-security improvements such as Point-in-time Restore, Screen Tint, better Bluetooth reliability and File Explorer enhancements, but security remains the principal reason to prioritize installation.
## Why this Patch Tuesday is so large: AI-assisted discovery
Microsoft attributes the rise in vulnerability counts to the growing use of AI in vulnerability research. The company has invested in AI-powered tools to accelerate discovery, analysis and validation. One of those tools, MDASH, is described as a multi-model, agentic security scanning harness that combines multiple AI models and more than 100 specialized agents to analyze code, debate findings and reduce false positives through staged validation. Microsoft says MDASH helped
