wstETH Exploit Drains $6M From Base Network Protocol

On 2026/10/04, an attacker drained 1,783 wrapped staked ETH (wstETH), valued at approximately $6 million, from a protocol on the Base network. The funds were moved to wallet address 0x0B5126…B034 in what appears to be an exploit targeting the Layer 2 blockchain.

wstETH transfer flagged by PeckShield

Security firm PeckShield identified and flagged the unauthorized transfer, confirming the significant loss of assets on Base. The incident marks another security breach within the ecosystem as attackers continue to target DeFi protocols across various networks.
