With the recent release of iOS 26, anticipation is already building for iOS 27, set to be unveiled at Apple’s WWDC event in June 2026 and launched in September. This upcoming update is expected to focus on performance improvements and bug fixes, earning it the nickname “Snow Leopard” update, reminiscent of a previous macOS version known for its emphasis on refining existing features.
A major highlight for 2026 is Apple’s rumored introduction of its first foldable iPhone, the “iPhone Fold,” featuring a compact 5.4-inch display when closed and expanding to 7.7 inches when open. This shift in design will require iOS 27 to adapt with new interfaces and experiences, potentially incorporating iPad-like features such as side bars and multitasking views.
The Liquid Glass design, first seen in iOS 26, is poised for further refinements in iOS 27, allowing Apple to address user feedback more comprehensively. Additionally, Apple is expected to enhance its Apple Intelligence capabilities, with a smarter version of Siri and possibly a new “World Knowledge” search feature.
Siri could also receive a visual overhaul in iOS 27, with rumors suggesting a more animated design akin to the Mac Finder logo, potentially debuting across iPhone and iPad platforms.
Furthermore, Apple is reportedly developing a Health+ service, offering personalized nutrition and medical guidance, which may launch alongside iOS 27.
Lastly, new satellite features are in the works, with possibilities including Apple Maps via satellite and satellite connectivity improvements. While some features may require new hardware, others could be implemented with existing technology. The full suite of updates will be previewed in June at WWDC, ahead of the new iPhone releases.
