Known in the industry as a patent troll, Lepton claims that Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold, Galaxy Z Flip, and Galaxy Z TriFold devices infringe on its patents related to foldable display technology. The company is demanding damages, royalties, and a halt to the sales of these models. Lepton alleges that discussions with Samsung about foldable phone collaboration date back to 2013, during which it shared prototypes and technological insights. Despite these claims, questions arise regarding the validity of Lepton’s patents, as they were registered in June 2021, two years after Samsung released its first foldable phone in 2019.
