Why has Samsung removed the video filter feature from Galaxy phones with the One UI 8.5 update?

Samsung’s One UI 8.5 update for Galaxy phones and tablets introduces several new features, but also sees the removal of some existing ones. Notably, the video filters feature, previously accessible in the Camera app for Full HD video recording at 30fps and 60fps, has been removed. This change affects models like the Galaxy S25 Ultra, Galaxy Z Fold 6, and Galaxy Z Fold 7, which no longer offer this option after upgrading to One UI 8.5.

Now, users must record videos first and then use the Samsung Studio video editor to apply filters. The editor offers 13 default filters, with an additional eight available for download from the Galaxy Store. While the Galaxy Store provides various free and paid filter packs, these tend to compress videos, reducing file size significantly, as seen with a 4K HDR video.

For advanced customization, users can utilize the Log video format with Cinematic LUT profiles available in the Pro Video mode, a feature introduced with the Galaxy S26 Ultra. However, recording Log videos is currently possible only on the Galaxy S24 series and newer models.
