Apple has unveiled iOS 27, highlighting a more intelligent and personalized Siri as its standout feature. However, the update brings a plethora of enhancements across various apps. Apple Maps now offers an AI-powered Flyover experience, providing detailed aerial imagery for select cities, along with a new Local Lists feature in the U.S. that showcases trending restaurants and family-friendly spots. The Find My app introduces customizable location sharing durations and the option to pause sharing with specific contacts until day’s end.
A significant addition is the ability to split bills using Apple Cash and Apple Intelligence, accessible via the Messages and Apple Wallet apps or through the new Siri mode in the Camera app. Users can also create custom passes in Apple Wallet from physical cards, and enjoy an enhanced digital key experience at participating hotels.
Apple Pay’s checkout process is redesigned for smoother card switching, while the Tap to Share feature facilitates sharing personal details with small businesses. The Apple Podcasts app gains a “search within show” function, and the Photos app now supports cross-platform, full-resolution sharing in iCloud Shared Albums, including contributions from non-Apple device users. Apple Music sees improvements in its AutoMix feature and expands its Lyrics Translation to additional languages.
iOS 27 is currently in developer beta, with a public beta expected in July, and a full release anticipated in September.
