Samsung is gearing up for a challenging year in the foldable smartphone market with Apple’s anticipated entry into the segment through its first foldable iPhone. Apple has reportedly approved the development of the iPhone Ultra 2, setting the stage for competition with Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 9. The iPhone Ultra 2 is expected to feature the same display as its predecessor, potentially allowing Samsung to capitalize on an opportunity to enhance its own display technology for a competitive edge. The initial iPhone Ultra includes a 5.5-inch cover screen and a 7.8-inch foldable inner screen, both sourced from Samsung Display, and boasts a dual 48MP rear camera system along with dual 18MP front-facing cameras. While Apple’s specific upgrades for the iPhone Ultra 2 remain unclear, enhancements in processing power and sensor quality are anticipated.
