Does the iPhone 18 Pro Face a Pricing Dilemma?

This week’s episode of The MacRumors Show delves into the anticipated price increases for the iPhone 18 lineup following Apple’s recent price hikes across its product range. The company has raised prices on several products, including the HomePod mini, iPad, and Mac, due to rising memory and storage chip costs. Although the iPhone and certain accessories have so far escaped these increases, the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max are expected to see price hikes by their September launch.

The Wall Street Journal reports that the cost of DRAM and flash storage is set to quadruple, potentially raising the iPhone 18 Pro’s price by $270 to maintain margins. Analysts suggest a starting price of $1,299, with additional costs for a new camera system possibly pushing the price to $1,399 or higher. The iPhone 18 Pro is expected to retain its aluminum build and introduce new colors, including Dark Cherry.

Alongside the iPhone 18, Apple is also set to launch its first foldable iPhone, the “iPhone Ultra,” with features like a 7.8-inch inner display and a starting price of at least $2,000. The Apple Watch Ultra 4 and Series 12 are also anticipated to debut with faster chips. Looking ahead, Apple is working on camera-equipped AirPods for 2027, designed to enhance Siri’s capabilities by providing contextual information about the user’s surroundings.
