Did CopySight raise $3M and launch CopyScore V2 for video AI?

CopySight has raised $3 million and launched CopyScore™ V2, a new version of its content-validation platform designed to prevent intellectual-property risks from generative AI—with a particular focus on video.

Funding and positioning
The $3M round was led by Mucker Capital with participation from Taisu VC, Flint Capital and Yellow Rocks!. According to Mucker partner David Borcsok, “We see CopySight as defining the IP layer for generative AI and modern content creation. AI cannot scale without trust — they provide the core capabilities around risk and ownership.”

What CopyScore™ V2 delivers
CopyScore V2 expands the platform’s risk-detection capabilities—previously centered on images—into full video workflows. The system analyzes video frame-by-frame to surface copyright, likeness and trademark issues that might only appear for a few frames out of thousands. It compares characters, faces, logos and artistic styles against reference libraries, and it factors in prompts, model versions and generation parameters as part of each assessment.

For ambiguous or sensitive cases, CopySight offers a “Deep Thinking” multi-pass review mode. Sensitivity thresholds are customizable so legal and compliance teams can adapt checks to internal standards. Every evaluation is recorded in an immutable chain-of-creation audit log intended to serve as evidence of compliance.

Methodology and traction
CopySight says it evaluates content against what it describes as the largest IP-focused dataset on the market, using proprietary technology and a patented IP-segmentation process to validate AI-generated assets before publication or commercial use. Since January 2026 the company reports it has processed more than 87,000 IP and copyright risk assessments—a roughly 25x increase in usage over that period—across workflows used by studios, tech platforms, legal teams and enterprise customers.

The platform covers trademarks, fictional characters, iconic designs, celebrity likenesses and artistic styles. CopySight also cites use cases such as supporting submissions to the U.S. Copyright Office for AI-assisted creative works.

Team, customers and partners
Founded by engineers and creative professionals from companies including Snap, Apple and Meta, CopySight works with Hollywood studios and enterprise clients on IP review, content validation and AI governance workflows. Clients and partners include AGBO, ArentFox Schiff and OpenArt. Its board and adviser roster includes former executives from Turner and WarnerMedia as well as research and marketing leaders from companies such as Nvidia and Amazon.

Why this matters
As generative AI is integrated into production pipelines, the ability to verify ownership, document provenance and identify copyright risk is becoming central to deployment and governance strategies. CopySight aims to position itself as an infrastructure layer for organizations that want to commercialize AI-generated content while managing legal and compliance exposure.
