Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra: Samsung’s 2026 flagship tablet explained

Samsung’s flagship tablet for 2026 will be the Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra, the successor to the Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra that Samsung says will focus largely on performance and software improvements.

Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra: Design and display

The Tab S12 Ultra is expected to feature a 14.6-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with a 1848 x 2960 pixel resolution, a variable refresh rate up to 120Hz and peak brightness up to 1,600 nits. It could support HDR10, HDR10+ and HLG, and may include an anti-reflective panel and an in-display fingerprint reader. The tablet will likely be extremely thin with an Armor Aluminum unibody frame and is expected to ship bundled with an S Pen stylus; the stylus could support pressure up to 4,096 levels and tilt sensitivity. Both the tablet and its S Pen could carry an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance.

Cameras

The Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra has a 12MP ultrawide front-facing camera. On the rear, it features a 13MP primary camera and an 8MP ultrawide camera. All three cameras may be capable of recording 4K video at 30fps.

Hardware and connectivity

Performance is expected to be driven by a MediaTek Dimensity 9500 processor, paired with either 12GB or 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and internal storage options of 256GB, 512GB or 1TB. The tablet will include a microSD card slot for expansion up to 2TB. Connectivity options could include 5G in cellular models, Wi‑Fi 7, Bluetooth and a 5Gbps USB 3.2 Type‑C port.

Software and AI features

Samsung plans to ship the Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra with Android 17 and One UI 9.0. The device could receive seven major Android OS upgrades and security patches for up to seven years. Thanks to its Dimensity 9500 chipset, the tablet could offer several Galaxy AI features such as Audio Eraser, Browsing Assist, Call Assist, Creative Studio, Health Assist, Interpreter, Note Assist, Notification Highlights, Now Brief, Now Nudge, Photo Assist, Transcript Assist and Weather Wallpaper. It could also support Gemini Intelligence for advanced automations.

Battery

The Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra is powered by an 11,600mAh battery and supports 45W fast wired charging. It could last 23 hours or more on a single charge when playing HD videos offline while connected to wireless earphones.

Availability

Samsung could announce the Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra in September 2026, with pre-orders opening the same day in select countries and the tablet reaching stores later that month.
