Mark Gurman said “everyone” inside Apple refers to the company’s upcoming foldable iPhone internally as the “iPhone Ultra,” though he cautioned that this does not necessarily confirm it as the device’s final name.
iPhone Ultra naming debate
Gurman’s remark came in response to Creative Strategies analyst Max Weinbach, who argued the “Ultra” name would be unsuitable because Apple’s existing Ultra products denote the most capable model in a lineup.
Weinbach contended the foldable would not clearly outclass the iPhone Pro in the way that the “Ultra” designation implies.
As Gurman emphasized, the “iPhone Ultra” label appears to be an internal reference rather than a confirmed product name.
