Intellectual Property: China’s 15th CIPAC to Highlight Quality

Beijing will host the 15th China Intellectual Property Annual Conference (CIPAC) from Sept. 8 to 9, spotlighting the high-quality development of the intellectual property sector during the 15th Five-Year Plan period (2026–2030), the China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA) said on Wednesday.

The conference will assemble representatives from government, industry, academia, and research and application sectors at home and abroad to explore new pathways for intellectual property to serve China’s comprehensive innovation, high-quality development and high-standard opening-up, according to CNIPA.

Intellectual Property sessions, services and providers

The event will address industrial hotspots and cutting-edge issues through one main forum, 13 parallel sessions and more than 20 events. Services will cover international patents, trademarks and products, as well as Chinese and foreign geographical indication products. A total of 135 intellectual property service providers will offer end-to-end services for innovation entities.

Since its inauguration in 2010, CIPAC has served as a high-end platform for showcasing China’s progress in the intellectual property sector, facilitating exchanges on industry topics and promoting related services, CNIPA said.

CNIPA data show the number of high-value invention patents held on the Chinese mainland reached 2.29 million by the end of last year, and that figure has been growing faster than overall invention patents. The number of valid invention patents on the Chinese mainland reached 5.32 million by the end of 2025, and the year-on-year growth rate of high-value invention patents was 2.2 percentage points higher than that of the country’s total invention patents last year.
