The latest macOS 27.2 beta released this week further hints at the long‑rumored touchscreen MacBook, which is expected to be unveiled by next month.
In the third developer beta of macOS 27.2, clicking and holding an app icon in the Dock causes the icon to grow slightly larger — an animation that mirrors the long‑press behavior found on iOS and iPadOS. The extension of that animation to macOS is presented as a subtle clue that a touch‑enabled MacBook may be coming.
The new long‑press Dock animation is visible in videos shared by @madeby_ldt and @craigapplecom.

Reports about the rumored machines say they would include a touch‑enabled OLED display and run on M5 Pro and M5 Max chips. Other expected changes noted alongside the touchscreen feature are a thinner‑and‑lighter design, a Dynamic Island, and the possible inclusion of Apple’s C1X or C2 modem for built‑in cellular connectivity.
