Apple will announce 10 new products in October, including updated smart‑home devices, a new smart home hub and potentially several new Macs. Apple will also confirm the official launch date for the foldable iPhone, the iPhone Duo, on Friday, October 23, with pre-orders opening Friday, October 16 at 5 a.m. Pacific Time. Apple previously said a Mac Studio with the M5 Ultra chip in a 512GB configuration would be available in late October and announcements on that model are still awaited.
Apple smart home updates
Apple plans to unveil updated HomePod mini and Apple TV 4K models and a brand‑new smart home hub, with the smart home products expected to be introduced on Tuesday, October 13. The HomePod mini will keep a similar exterior but gain a newer chip, improved sound quality, Apple’s N1 chip with Wi‑Fi 7 support, a second‑generation Ultra Wideband chip and support for Siri AI. The Apple TV 4K is expected to receive a new chip, likely the A19 or A19 Pro, increased memory — 12GB of RAM up from 8GB — Apple Intelligence and Siri AI support, and an Apple‑designed N1 chip with Wi‑Fi 7.
The new smart home hub is said to feature a square 6‑inch display with versions for countertop placement or wall mounting. It will allow users to control smart home devices, make video calls and intercom‑style messages, play audio and display photo slideshows. Apple will position it as an information hub for the kitchen, with the ability to watch videos and look up recipes via voice commands. The device is reported to include Siri AI, an A18 chip or newer to power Apple Intelligence, a front FaceTime camera and microphones and speakers in a connected base, and it may ship in multiple colors.
New Macs and iPads expected late October
Later in October Apple is expected to announce new Mac and iPad models. New 14‑inch and 16‑inch MacBook Pro models are said to arrive with touchscreen OLED displays and M5 Pro and M5 Max chips, a Dynamic Island‑style cutout for the FaceTime camera, a thinner and lighter design, and the possible addition of an Apple C1X or C2 modem for 5G connectivity. Apple could also introduce new 24‑inch iMacs with the M6 chip and new color options, as well as a new base 14‑inch MacBook Pro with the vanilla M6.
A new iPad mini with an OLED display is also expected this month; it is reported to feature an A20 Pro chip, a landscape FaceTime camera, a redesigned speaker setup and a water‑resistant design. It remains unclear whether Apple will announce these products via media events or through a series of press releases.
