Smallest Samsung Galaxy phones to buy in 2026: S26, S25, Z Flip 8, Z Fold 8

Phones have steadily grown larger over the past decade and a half, but if you want the smallest Samsung Galaxy phones available in 2026, your choices narrow to two slab models and two foldables: the Galaxy S26, Galaxy S25, Galaxy Z Flip 8 and Galaxy Z Fold 8.
Most Galaxy phones on the market have 6.7-inch displays, and the trend contrasts with the original Galaxy Note released in 2011, which was mocked for its size despite a 5.3-inch screen and measurements of 146.9 x 83 x 9.7 mm that would be considered small today.

Smallest Samsung Galaxy phones: slab models

The Galaxy S26 debuted in March 2026 as the smallest of the three S26 flagship models. It features a 6.3-inch display, measures 149.6 x 71.7 x 7.2mm and weighs 167 grams. The S26 offers almost the exact same feature package as the larger S26 Ultra model with a few exceptions: it does not have S Pen support or the Ultra’s superior camera setup.

A year older, the Galaxy S25 is even more compact. The S25 has a 6.2-inch display, measures 146.9 x 70.5 x 7.2 mm and weighs 162 grams, making it smaller and lighter than its successor. With 2026 lineup prices pushed higher because of memory chip costs, the S25 is potentially cheaper. It also received the One UI 9 firmware update globally a few days ago, so buyers today get the full One UI 9 experience and may save some money compared with newer models.

Foldable options and compact modes

The Galaxy Z Flip 8 is arguably the most compact Samsung phone if you judge by the cover screen. That cover screen has a 4.1-inch diagonal and provides a One UI experience focused on widgets while still supporting full apps. When folded, the Flip 8 measures 85.7 x 75.4 x 13.1 mm—roughly half the size of a slab-type premium phone. Unfolded, its inner screen has a 6.9-inch diagonal and the phone measures 166.9 x 75.4 x 6.1 mm; unfolded it is comparable in size to the Galaxy S26 Ultra, and is thinner and narrower than the S26 Ultra but slightly taller. Whether the Flip 8 qualifies as a true compact phone depends on perspective: it is far from tiny when unfolded, but unmatched when folded.

Similarly, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 can be seen as either one of the smallest or one of the largest Samsung phones, depending on whether you look at it folded or unfolded. Its cover screen measures 5.5 inches with a wide 16:10 aspect ratio—a size and shape that closely resembles the original Galaxy Note, which had a 16:10 display only 0.2 inches smaller than the Fold 8’s. The Fold 8 delivers a full One UI experience folded or unfolded, and its passport-style foldable form factor hides a generous 7.6-inch 4:3 display for a tablet-like experience. It is also Samsung’s lightest foldable yet, but it does not support the S Pen.

Each of these four models represents a different approach to compactness in 2026: the S25 and S26 offer smaller slab options among flagships, while the Z Flip 8 and Z Fold 8 deliver compact folded dimensions with larger unfolded displays.
