Apple market cap closed above $5 trillion today, making the company the second ever to end a trading session above that level after Nvidia.
Apple market cap milestone
Apple closed at $342.96, resulting in a market capitalization of $5.005 trillion. The firm had exceeded $5 trillion intraday six times previously, but this is the first time it remained above the mark at the close.
The new valuation comes just over a month after John Ternus took over for Tim Cook as Apple CEO, and two days ahead of iPhone Duo pre-orders.
Apple briefly surpassed Nvidia to become the world’s most valuable company in July; Nvidia has since retaken the top spot and continues to lead with a market cap of $5.33 trillion.
