The first beta of iOS 27.2 includes a redesigned Apple Health app that previews new Apple Intelligence features for developers to test; Apple’s developer notes say the app is being tested in this beta but will not ship in the iOS 27.2 launch build and will arrive later in the year.
Apple Health app: Insights and Personal Guidance
The Health app will use Apple Intelligence to convert Apple Watch data and other metrics into personalized guidance. An Insights tab will present AI-generated summaries of timely information such as recent sleep metrics or a new peak in VO2 max, and a For You section will offer options for custom advice on readiness, fitness, heart health and more. Personal guidance within Insights will adapt to each user’s priorities and data; Apple says, for example, that users focused on cardio might see a suggestion to add intervals to a morning run.
Readiness, Fitness and Vitals
New Apple Watch models will calculate a readiness score that factors recent activity, vitals and sleep score, producing a 0–10 rating with activity recommendations phrased as Recover, Pace Yourself, Ready or Go For It. Readiness information will be visible on the watch, in the Fitness app, and in the Health app’s Insights tab. Insights will also incorporate daily activity and update throughout the day. The Vitals section gains new overnight and daytime views and adds heart rate variability (HRV) as a metric, measuring both overall HRV and recovery HRV to offer a clearer view of recovery from stress.
Longevity, Health Age and at-home assessments
A new Longevity tab will aggregate iPhone and Apple Watch metrics across heart health, sleep, mental wellbeing, movement health, metabolic health, hearing and nutrition, showing how each metric is classified against current clinical guidance. Health Age, part of Longevity, will compare metrics such as VO2 max, resting heart rate, HRV, sleep and blood biomarkers to a user’s actual age to highlight which habits could have the biggest impact. The Health app will also add at-home assessments: VO2 max tests that use the iPhone camera to track movements while users follow instructions from a trainer, plus in-depth physical assessments for flexibility, strength, balance and movement mechanics.
Labs and staged rollout
Apple plans to offer U.S. users the ability to purchase a Quest bloodwork panel covering more than 50 biomarkers for $119, with ordering available directly in the Health app. Not all features are available in the current beta: reports indicate that ordering labs, personalized health information in the Insights tab and personalized recommendations will not be available until later in the year, and features will roll out progressively.
