Apple TV: tvOS 27.2 Hints at Apple Intelligence and Siri AI

The tvOS 27.2 beta includes code that strengthens rumors the next Apple TV will support Siri AI and Apple Intelligence, adding an “Improve Siri & Apple Intelligence” toggle to the tvOS Settings app.

What tvOS 27.2 reveals about Apple TV

The new setting appears alongside existing Siri data-sharing code, suggesting the option will be present only on Apple Intelligence–capable hardware. On devices that do not support Apple Intelligence, the same setting is labeled “Improve Siri & Dictation.”

The beta also contains a privacy disclosure that reads: “Help improve foundation models and ‌Siri‌ by allowing Apple to collect and use your text and audio interactions with ‌Siri‌, Dictation, and Translate.” Other Apple devices that include Apple Intelligence use similarly worded privacy disclosures and data-sharing opt-ins.

Privacy, messages and on-device AI

tvOS 27.2 adds a new Siri Messages UI framework, which indicates message content could be displayed on the Apple TV in the future. Siri may be able to read messages sent to a linked iPhone and show smart reply options on the Apple TV; the current Siri on Apple TV does not support sending or reading messages, so the framework is likely linked to Siri AI.

Apple is reportedly working on an Apple TV model with 8GB or 12GB of RAM and an A19 or A19 Pro chip, hardware that could support on-device Siri AI features. With these software and code changes in tvOS 27.2, Apple appears to be laying the groundwork for the new Apple TV.

We could get a new Apple TV as soon as October 13.
