Are $549 Windows Laptops Better Than the MacBook Neo?

Microsoft has launched a study emphasizing the benefits of certain Windows laptops compared to the MacBook Neo. The research, conducted by Signal65, evaluated four Windows models, with Lenovo’s IdeaPad Slim 3x being the only one closely matching the MacBook Neo’s price point. Starting at $549.99, the IdeaPad Slim 3x offers several advantages, such as a larger 15.3-inch display, a more powerful Snapdragon X1 processor, 16GB of RAM, and a variety of ports. It also boasts Wi-Fi 7 connectivity, a backlit keyboard, and a touchscreen. In battery tests, the IdeaPad Slim 3x outperformed the MacBook Neo, lasting over 16 hours.

However, the MacBook Neo has its strengths, including a higher display resolution, superior build quality with a fully aluminum enclosure, and a better webcam. Its trackpad and speakers are also noted for their quality. Additionally, the MacBook Neo benefits from macOS, which offers seamless integration with other Apple devices. Despite the promotional nature of the Microsoft-backed study, both laptops present a mix of advantages, contributing to a competitive landscape in the affordable laptop market.
