Bark Watch: Galaxy Watch 8 Adapted with Safety Features for Kids

Bark Watch is built on the 40mm Galaxy Watch 8 hardware from Samsung and pairs that adult-grade smartwatch platform with safety-focused software from US-based Bark Technologies to help keep kids protected from online threats.

Positioned as an adult-grade device that children who are ready for greater independence can use, Bark Watch targets older kids who want a more age-appropriate smartwatch experience than typical kid-focused wearables offer. The company says the approach balances increased functionality for users with parental safety controls.

Bark Watch safety controls and limits

The device deliberately restricts several common smartwatch features: it excludes social media apps, internet browsers and mobile games, and it does not allow unrestricted app downloads. Bark Technologies’ AI platform runs in the background to scan incoming and outgoing media sent through text, so parents can be alerted instantly to issues such as cyberbullying or explicit content.

Bark frames the product as a response to a range of digital dangers children face today — from cyberbullying to explicit content and online predators — noting that many existing smartwatch solutions are better suited to younger children while Bark Watch aims to serve older kids seeking more functionality without sacrificing parental oversight.
