Dextr AI has raised a $6.7 million seed round led by Elevation Capital, with participation from Foundation Capital. The company says the new capital will be used to accelerate product development, expand the team and scale Dextr AI’s deployments across hospitality markets globally, with India among the markets it is looking to expand into.
Dextr AI platform and deployments
Dextr AI’s platform allows hospitality employees to control teams of specialized AI agents across Voice AI, guest management, back-office operations including staff management, and sales and marketing. The company currently operates across properties in the US, Canada, UK and Europe, including franchised properties operating under the Hilton, Wyndham, Best Western and IHG flags.
The company is processing over a million interactions every month and is among the few AI platforms able to take payments by voice, processing tens of millions of dollars through phone reservations every month on behalf of customers. Its deployments have also delivered industry-leading booking conversion rates for payment collected via phone on behalf of customers.
Results, expansion and new command layer
For Dextr, the opportunity in India is particularly relevant because the country’s hospitality industry continues to be deeply rooted in human interaction, even as operators contend with rising costs, staffing constraints and growing guest expectations. The company sees AI not as a replacement for that human touch, but as a way to fill operational gaps that prevent hospitality teams from delivering it consistently. These gaps include missed calls, unanswered enquiries, unfilled shifts and guest requests; by automating such workflows, Dextr aims to allow hotel teams to spend more time focused on guests.
Alongside the funding round, Dextr AI is also unveiling Doss Gen 1, a command layer that allows employees to control the AI workforce in plain language, either by texting or talking to it. Doss is designed with the role-based permissions, audit trail and portfolio-wide consistency that enterprise operators require.
The company says its deployments have generated measurable operational and revenue outcomes for hospitality operators. A reservation contact centre generated $80,000 in incremental revenue within 60 days of forward-deploying Dextr’s enterprise Voice AI into complex, live reservation operations, representing 49x ROI. A six-property hotel group eliminated 1,200 unnecessary labour hours through AI-driven housekeeping and labour optimisation, resulting in an 8 per cent EBITDA improvement. A destination resort cut operating costs while maintaining 92 per cent guest satisfaction with a leaner team, generating $120,000 in annual savings. In addition, 100 per cent of properties using Alfred, Dextr’s AI guest management agent, raised their OTA ratings by an average of 0.4 points within 90 days.
“Hospitality operators have a deep staffing shortage that leads to gaps in service, revenue leakage, broken guest experience, and overworked staff. This is true for staff on property and across central teams,” said Sajid Shariff, founder and CEO of Dextr AI. “Our mission is to enable a fully agentic workforce that fills in the gaps, and enable staff to focus their time where it really matters – on guests. The revenue team, the marketing team, the GM, the maintenance crew, each directs the same AI workforce in their own words, within the guardrails their organization sets. The technology finally bends to the operation instead of the other way around.”
Dextr AI was founded by Sajid Shariff, a seasoned start-up operator with hospitality experience, alongside co-founder Scott Arnold, CTO from Meta. The team of nearly 20 includes veterans who are AI product builders, AI Strategists and Engineers from Meta, BCG, McKinsey, Stanford and Harvard.
“The speed at which Dextr is winning hospitality is a testament to the urgency of the problem,” said Krishna Mehra, Partner at Elevation Capital. “Sajid and Scott are the ideal team to build in this space – deep customer empathy due to extensive hospitality expertise and a strong understanding of how AI is reshaping guest expectations and experience. This team delivers immediate, measurable ROI – the kind an operator can see on the P&L and we believe they are building the definitive AI platform for the industry. We are excited to partner with Dextr AI as they reshape hospitality.”
