Epitome Therapeutics, a biotechnology company based in Vienna, Austria, has officially launched with €4 million in funding. This financial backing includes an oversubscribed €2 million pre-seed round led by XISTA Science Ventures and Caesar Ventures, alongside €2 million in non-dilutive grant funding. The company, a spin-off from EMBL, aims to advance its CADENCE platform, which focuses on precision epigenome editing for programmable gene expression. The funding will support the development of drug candidates, expansion of CADENCE’s technological capabilities, and growth of the scientific and operational team. Co-founders Dr. Guido Gualdoni and Dr. Jamie Hackett emphasize the importance of precise gene expression regulation, a need addressed by CADENCE’s ability to control gene dosage without altering DNA sequences. With backing from notable investors, Epitome Therapeutics seeks to establish a new therapeutic modality for diseases driven by gene activity imbalances, including rare and metabolic disorders.
