Did Cleantech Startup NovorbisItus Secure Rs 13.35 Crore in Seed Funding?

NovorbisItus Pvt. Ltd., a cleantech startup based in Pune, has successfully raised ₹13.35 crore in a seed funding round led by Rainmatter, the investment initiative of Zerodha. Specializing in emission control and air purification systems, the company targets decentralized pollution sources like diesel generators and crematoriums, offering retrofit solutions for existing infrastructures. Rockstud Capital, known for investing in manufacturing-led companies, also participated in this funding round.

The newly acquired funds will be utilized to enhance the deployment of NovorbisItus’ current solutions and expand its product range to include emissions reduction technologies for boilers and large industrial facilities, such as steel plants. The startup also aims to enable industries to implement on-site carbon capture technologies.

Founded by Harsh Neekhra, Gagan Tripathi, and Divyank Gupta, NovorbisItus initially developed a filter-less Retrofit Emission Control Device (RECD) for DG sets, allowing companies to comply with emission norms without replacing equipment. The company later introduced the Crematorium Air Purification System (CAPS). The founders, who began their venture as college students in Indore, have been driven by a vision to tackle air pollution at its source.

Rainmatter’s investment lead, Abhinav Negi, expressed confidence in the startup’s technology and team, emphasizing the urgency of addressing DG set emissions and crematorium pollution. Abhishek Agrawal from Rockstud Capital highlighted the growing necessity for retrofit solutions like Novorbis’ RECD amid tightening emission norms.

NovorbisItus’ flagship product, the ARAI-certified RECD, utilizes electrostatic precipitation and an automated cleaning system to reduce particulate emissions from diesel generators. The startup’s CAPS product, certified by IIT Bombay, offers significant air pollution reduction for crematoriums, aligning with India’s specific environmental challenges.

Since its founding in 2019, NovorbisItus has focused on developing cost-effective, retrofit solutions for emission control, with Pune serving as its hub for production, research, and distribution.
