This week was filled with exciting news from Apple, including fresh rumors about the forthcoming “MacBook Ultra” and “iPhone Ultra,” as well as insights into Apple’s plans for its 20th-anniversary iPhone set to launch next year.
Apple is reportedly preparing a major redesign for its higher-end MacBook Pro models by early 2027, potentially branding them as “MacBook Ultra.” Expected features include an OLED display, touch capabilities, a Dynamic Island, M6 Pro and M6 Max chips, a slimmer design, and built-in cellular connectivity.
Meanwhile, Apple appears to have abandoned its Vision Pro project after the M5 model failed to garner interest. The Vision Pro team has been reassigned to other projects, with some members joining the Siri team.
The anticipated foldable “iPhone Ultra” might lack several features found in the iPhone 18 Pro models, despite its hefty $2,000 price tag. Missing elements could include MagSafe, the Action Button, Face ID, and a Telephoto camera lens.
In a move to offer more affordable options, Apple has introduced a new monthly subscription model for App Store developers, requiring a 12-month commitment. This option is available worldwide, excluding the United States and Singapore for now.
For its 20th-anniversary iPhone, Apple is collaborating with Samsung to develop a custom micro-curved OLED display, promising a brighter and thinner panel. The design could feature a bezel-less display with curves around all four edges.
Additionally, Apple announced the return of its popular series “Ted Lasso” for a fourth season, premiering on August 5 and continuing with weekly episodes through October 7.
