Did the One UI 8 Watch update spoil Galaxy Watches?

The recent One UI 8 Watch update has left me with mixed feelings about my Galaxy Watch 5. While I usually welcome software updates with an open mind, this one has been harder to embrace due to its significant aesthetic and functional changes, particularly the redesigned Tiles. Previously, Tiles were easy to read and tailored to the smartwatch’s circular display, offering key information at a glance. However, the new update has introduced oblong widgets that resemble smartphone widgets more than smartwatch Tiles. This change has made Tiles smaller, more complex, and less intuitive, detracting from the smartwatch’s user-friendly design. For example, the Daily Activity Tile, once prominent and easy to read, is now smaller and less effective. Additionally, the inconsistency in Tile sizes adds to the cluttered appearance. Samsung’s attempt to integrate oblong shapes into a round display has resulted in a mismatch that feels awkward and visually unappealing. Despite the possibility of adapting to these changes, I remain skeptical about embracing this update, which has become one of my least favorite in recent times. Perhaps my opinion will change, but for now, the update has not enhanced my Galaxy Watch experience.
